During her tenure with Kuumba, she rediscovered her love and passion for music, and has since made it her mission to exude joy through singing , and impart that into all of her students.

In her spare time, along with caring for the 40+ plants in her home and keeping her two cats, Holmes & Watson, from destroying her favorite chair, Ms. Evans has developed a yearly charity project where, after a personal experience with an unhoused person, she raises funds to purchase restaurant gift cards to give to the local homeless community. What she refers to as a “Moment of Dignity”, it allows those with less to have a moment of normalcy, having a coffee or meal in the comforts of a restaurant without stigma.
